Back in Toronto (temporarily?) while Susan Hay is away.

I was almost jumping up and down when I saw Michelle with Alex!! Those great closeups on Michelle’s face were the very best ever!! We never see those great closeups when Michelle is in Calgary.

Of course I may be wrong but I think Michelle is in Toronto to stay. They don’t fly a weathercaster from Calgary to Toronto just to do some temporary replacement and especially if that replacement weathercaster is already a permanent one in another province! It’s just plain stupid but stupid and weird things have been done several times in the past! They already have other weathercasters in Toronto to do the temporary replacement (Nadine Powell, for instance, is one of them).

I’m overjoyed to see Michelle in Toronto because we’ll see great closeups of her! But my question is “Where is Susan Hay”?? I love Susan!! Global have done several changes with their anchors all across Canada in the past month. Some anchors have been fired, some didn’t renew their contract, some weekend anchors have now became 5 days a week anchors, some noon anchors are now evening anchors, some anchors are now seen in a new city, etc.

But in the meantime, here’s Michelle!

Toronto is now Michelle's new home. This probably has to be considered as a promotion and I'm VERY happy for Michelle!!

She was back on the Calgary newscast tonight. Not the best cap, as I was trying to set it up with about a seconds notice.

I saw Michelle with Alex Pierson at the main desk at Global Ontario (Toronto) this evening at 6PM and 11PM (eastern time). At the beginning of her weather report, Michelle talked specifically about the weather in Toronto right now with a live video shot of the harbour. If she was seen at Global Calgary then it was a remote from Toronto I guess because your picture and mine are different. This is something all the networks do every day and especially with reporters.

When Michelle left the desk and walked toward the “green screen” to do the weather forecast, we could hear the sound of her high heels!! Sexy!! If you listen closely (headphones will probably be your best choice), you will hear the sound of Michelle’s shoes as she got out of her chair and walked to the “green screen”!

i met michelle and anne diokno a couple weeks ago!! she's so fun so awesome! she bought me a drink and we did a couple shots haha!
i hope i see her out again sometime and we party some more

Michelle is in fact one of my top five personality I would love to meet!!

I am only now getting around to this page dedicated to Michelle Jobin and I have to say she is a Canadian Classic! WOW! 1 million thank you 's to all posters for great caps and videos. I have not seen her before today!

While it may seem a little strange, Michelle is working both Toronto and Calgary weather for Global. This is obviously of her own doing and she must be commuting back and forth. There is a new little cutie at Global Calgary and we'll no doubt be seeing some of her too.

First of all, welcome to the forum raydeo! In fact, Michelle is not commuting at all. She's always in Toronto. She locally do the live weather forecast for the Global Toronto region viewers and she says “here in the GTA area”. She later do the weather forecast for the Calgary region viewers either live (with cutie Jamie Doll, for instance) via a direct satellite link from the Global Toronto studio to the Global Calgary studio and then she says “here in Calgary” or sometimes via a pre-recorded weather forecast for the Calgary region viewers.

If Michelle doesn’t speak with the anchor at the main desk in Calgary after her forecast (she always conclude with “thanks” when she’s live!) then it was a pre-recorded forecast made in the Global Toronto studio with the Calgary weather maps in the background and the recording is then uploaded from the Toronto studio to the Calgary studio again via a direct satellite link (probably in a matter of seconds) to be edited afterward in Calgary and then broadcasted later by the Global Calgary studio for their local viewers. Technology is so beautiful sometimes!

Casper....thanks for pointing this out. I always thought Michelle was in Calgary but noticed her at the newsdesk with the newscaster in Global's Toronto studios. As you rightfully point out, she never joins Jayme Doll or any of the others at the Calgary desk. Until I saw her sit with the Toronto folk, I thought maybe she was doing the GTA weather from Calgary via satellite uplink. Goes to show that I don't watch the news enough be it in Calgary or Toronto or wherever. Just too much negative stuff.

For awhile though she did join the Calgary folk at the desk so I am assuming she must have resided in Calgary until last fall sometime when Global did its big shakeup.

BTW, have you seen the new weather cutie at Global Calgary - Amber Shinkel? They said she's from Lethbridge.

I wrote "Jamie" instead of "Jayme" in my last post. Shame on me to have made that mistake after I’ve made plenty of vidcaps and videos of her in the past!

Michelle resided in the (or probably near the) Calgary region when she appeared with the Calgary anchors at the main desk. Like most networks last year, they indeed had a big shakeup at Global but I recall Michelle mentioning on the air one time that her family lived in the Toronto area. So it’s very possible that she asked to be transfered to Global Toronto if a weather job became available. This is not uncommon.

And I have an old footage (when she was in Calgary) of the anchor making fun of her (in good spirit) when Michelle mentioned she just came back from "home" (probably meaning Toronto) after a vacation and he made her "responsible" about the bad weather in Calgary!

For the past two years and especially last year, it’s so unbelievable to see how many anchors and reporters (no matter the network) have returned to their native region or the region where their family lives. I think it’s very natural to want that if it’s possible.

No, I have not seen Amber on Global Calgary yet but I’m looking forward to it! She's cute and she have some beautiful blue eyes!! Is she on the air on weekends?

Hey Casper....they said Amber would be doing weather on weekends and last weekend she was doing the weather on the Saturday morning news show. So not sure if she's slated for that or will be doing the evening newscasts that Michelle currently does.
